The Addict - Episode 2

Tolu's mother gathered herself together and could now find some real words for her child.
" It's a drug for my illness" She finally said.
"I forgot to tell you I visited the Hospital, the drug is quite expensive dear" she continued.
Tolu was a bit calm now but he already forgot the reason he was there.
He just picked his bag from the floor and left to have his bath.

*****
Tolu came out of the shower and laid on his bed wondering what kind of drug that was and what it cured, it was so strange!
He didn't come down till 7pm for dinner.

Mrs Adewale concluded he was reading for his Waec exams that was starting the next week, Wednesday to be precise.

****
Tolu met Obi in school the next day which was Friday and ignored him totally.
All he could think of was the "DRUG!"....

******
Exams started and ended. The result was out in no time and Tolu made his grades.

******
Mrs Adewale sold different kinds of fabric and gold so she could afford to send Adewale jnr to a private University.
She always told her friends
" I will never allow my child go through the stress of JAMB, when I have so much money?"
"God forbid!"
Her friends will laugh especially mama Ada who sold bags and shoes close to Tolu mom's big shop that looked like a ware house.
"Nwanyi nka, I di funny"
(This woman, you're Funny)
This was mama Ada's response always.

*****
Adewale Toluwale packed his bags the previous night.
While his mother was with the cook in the kitchen, he tiptoed into his mother room, opened her drawer, he was amazed at how many packs his mother bought.
He took two pack and hid it in his jean pocket and left the room as quickly as he came in.
He got to his room, took some pictures of it and sent to his friend Patrick on WhatsApp.
Patrick replied immediately
"That's cocaine bro"
"Where did you get that from?"
Tolu immediately searched about cocaine on his andriod phone.
Google brought out the use of the hard drug and how it is taken, without leaving out the side effect.
Tolu wondered why his mom lied to him and the reason she took this drug.
He was so angry at her.
He promised himself to try it out right under her nose.
He locked his door, opened a pack and sniffed some with his left thumb.
Exactly the way his saw Mrs Adewale that Thursday!"
"Hmmm, I've never felt this good!",
He took some more and more.
He quickly hid the rest drug underneath the box he packed for school, locked it and laid on his bed with joy in his heart.
Soon, he slept off.
He saw himself taking alot of cocaine in his sleep.
******
"Tolu, you better hurry, we need to get to the campus as early as possible" came a voice behind the door.
He sluggishly came out of bed into the shower and got out almost immediately.
His head was banging so hard.
He dried his body quickly and wore his well ironed clothes in a rush that they almost got rumpled.

******
He couldn't believe he would be spending weeks outside this big mansion.
He wondered what a university as big and popular as Crawford University looked like.

****
The sun was shining brightly in the sky when they drove into the big gate of Crawford University.
His mother already settled all the bills the pervious week.
Tolu was handed over to Mrs Okachi, a lecturer in the department of English even if he was a law student.
****
Mrs Okachi was a dark slim lady of her late thirties who wore glasses always, she was of average height.
Despite she was a young woman, she was more respected than older lecturers because of her composure, intellects and finally, her godly nature.

*****
For Four weeks, Mrs Okachi took care of Tolu like her child but unfortunately something went wrong.
Adeoti, Tolu's roommate was searching for his new wristwatch and couldn't find it . The issue was reported to Mr Brown, their Hostel supervisor.
Mr Brown, a very strict tall Yoruba man from Ogun state.
He never smiled, only at the end of the month.
" Consider yourself in trouble if I find that wrist watch in your bag".
The boys in Tolu's Hostel heard Mr Brown's voice at the door.
He opened the door and continued
" I don't train thieves"
"I have never trained any!"
He shouted at no one in particular but all the boys shivered including the owner of the missing Item.
Tolu's box was the second bag Mr Brown searched.
Mr Brown felt a pack of substance and brought it out
"What is this white powdery substance?"
Tolu had forgotten he put it into his clothes bag, he was shivering already.
Mr Brown put it to his nose and frowned
"Oh! You boys don't only steal, drugs toooo?!"
Mr Brown exclaimed.
Adeoti, Elisha and Tom were dumbfounded.
Mr Brown marched the boys to his Office and called their parents one after the other to come pick them because they were all suspended till the school panel decided their fate.
The other three tried defending themselves but Tolu just stood at the door of Mr Brown's office unapologetic.
